The Adamawa State House of Assembly has given accelerated reading to a bill for a law to provide for the management of funds accruing to the Adamawa State Judiciary from the consolidated revenue fund of the state.
The bill scaled through first and second reading on Monday.
The accelerated reading of the bill followed its presentation on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Aminu Iya Abbas and read by the Majority Leader, Hammantukur Yettisuri
After considering the importance of the bill, the Speaker referred it to House Committee on Judiciary to scrutinise and report back within two weeks.
The Assembly, also during its resumed plenary on Monday, approved for Governor Ahmadu Fintiri his request to take a loan of N2 billion to upgrade hospitals, particularly for COVID-19 care.
The Assembly gave Fintiri a free hand to source CBN Health Sector COVID-19 Intervention facility of N2 billion from Zenith Bank PLc.
The Assembly’s approval followed a request letter forwarded by the governor and read on the floor of the Assembly by the Speaker during Monday’s plenary.
The governor’s letter had said the loan facility would enable the government finance the building and expansion of state health care facilities, acquire medical equipment and train health personnel.
After considering the importance of the request, the majority leader moved a motion for the approval and was seconded by minority leader, following which the speaker put the motion to voice vote, which was unanimously supported by the legislators.
