[QUOTE="Delicious, post: 2551, member: 178"] The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has released the timetable for the local council election. The election date to pick new chairmen and councillors in each of the 21 local government areas of the state is November 27, 2021, according to the timetable passed to newsmen on Monday. The timetable, released by ADSIEC Information Officer, Innocent Zira, shows that the leadership of ADSIEC will meet with representatives of political parties at the commission’s headquarters in Yola on September 13. The election schedules also indicate that the period of September 20-October 2nd is allowed for party primaries while October 4th-15th is fixed for collection of nomination forms by candidates who are required to return the forms to ADSIEC, duly filled, between October 18 and October 22. October 25th-29th is scheduled for the establishment of screening committees, while screening of candidates is billed for November 1st-5th. Display of names of successfully screened candidates is for the duration of November 8th-12th while November 15th-22nd is slated for receiving and considering petitions from candidates. The timetable from ADSIEC also indicates that campaigns towards the council elections will be allowed from October 15 to November 26, while the Election Day is November 27. Council election was last held across Adamawa State on December 7, 2019, and the elected officials at the time, the current chairmen and councillors, were sworn in for a two-year term on December 9, 2019.
