Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Congress Committee in Oyo State, Mr. Hilary Amodu, has allegedly absconded with the results of local government congresses.
DAILY POST recalls that local government congresses of APC were held on Saturday.
It was, however, gathered that Amodu had allegedly eloped with results of 29 out of the 33 local government areas in the state, though Amodu has refuted the claim.
Secretary of the committee, Engineer Abdulazeez Usman and other members of the committee among whom are Hon. Taofeek Ogunwale Abdulsalam, Damilare Lukman Abdulkareem, Barrister Yakubu Bashir Bello, Hon. Ralph Igbokwe and Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday, alleged that Amodu left Ibadan on Sunday at about 12 noon and was yet to be seen or reached on phone till this morning.
The committee members noted that Amodu left all the members in an hotel in Jericho, Ibadan on the claim that he wanted to see a friend in the city.

The members maintained Amodu refused to submit the results when he was asked to do so and refused to pick their calls.
They maintained that they are suspecting foul play that Amodu is working in cohort with a serving senator. The members further stated that the serving senator had approached them to compromise the congress.
“We have not seen or heard from him since then. He did not come back to the hotel where all of us are lodged and our repeated calls to his lines were not answered. We suspect foul play that the Chairman is working with a serving senator who had approached us to compromise the congress.
“We have reported the matter to our party headquarters with a request for fresh election results. We want to assure our party members in Oyo State not to worry or express any fear over the development as no manipulation whatsoever can be done to the results.
“Our party is a much organized and disciplined party and the process of the congress as put in place by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) cannot be falsified or compromised in any way”.
But, Amodu, while reacting, noted that only the results of the congresses held at designated venues would be submitted.
He noted that it was unfortunate that such allegations could come from the members of the committee which he is chairing.
He insisted that the allegations that he eloped with a serving senator is not true.
“Therefore, the allegation that I absconded with a serving Senator from the state was not only untrue but also unfounded and condemnable. I left Ibadan on Sunday (a day after the Congress) with the duly signed results and this was to the knowledge of all members of my team who later joined me in Abuja where we were being expected to submit both the results and the Reports of the exercise.
“As a matter of fact, copies of the results in my custody were in possession of the Secretary of the Committee as well as parties that took part in the Congress and there is no way these could be doctored or manipulated in favour of any individual or group again. I only left for Abuja to meet up with the deadline set for my Committee by the National Secretariat of our Party regarding the submission of Congress Results and Reports.
“I want to assure all members of the APC in Oyo state that only the results of the Congress produced at the designated venues on Saturday will be submitted to the National Secretariat of our great Party for necessary authorisation while it is only the leadership of the CECPC that has the power to announce it to the public afterwards.”
