The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday October 6, told the Court of Appeal that they've failed to reach an out-of-court settlement on the eight months old strike embarked upon by lecturers across the country, as advised by the appellate court. This was disclosed by FG’s lawyer, James Igwe, and lead counsel for ASUU, Femi Falana (SAN). Falana was granted an opportunity by the presiding judge, Justice Hamma Barka, to file a reply to the counter affidavit deposed to by the FG in opposition to the hearing of the appeal. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria revealed that they've begun consultations which would continue at the end of the day’s proceedings. He suggested that their application challenging the ruling of the Industrial Court be heard by the three-man panel of the Appeal Court. FG and ASUU's lawyers agreed that the court should hear the application, as there was no amicable resolution reached as advised by the court. The post FG and ASUU fail to reach out-of-court settlement on strike as advised by appeal court appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
