Martin Odegaard Completes Arsenal Move and will be available Arsenal next Premier League match against Chelsea. According to Streetvips, last month, the north London club had been waiting with bated breath for Spanish giants Real Madrid to accept the Arsenals' £42m offer to sign the Norwegian talent.
The 22-year-old Norway international impressed in North London while on loan during the second part of last season. But as contract rules dictated, Martin Odegaard had to report back to Madrid for preseason.
According to famous transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, he said Martin Ødegaard to Arsenal, here we go, and the deal confirmed! Permanent move - bit less than €40m to Real Madrid. Personal terms already agreed on five years contract.
Edu and Arteta wanted Ødegaard as the only priority since June, strategy was correct… and now, done deal.
It could be a busy end to the summer transfer window for Arsenal.
With less than two weeks to go until deadline day, the Gunners have signed three players so far in Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White for a combined total of £73m.
Despited having Emile Smith Rowe, an additional attacking midfielder was needed since the departures of Mesut Ozil and Dani Ceballos.
Securing Odegaard further means that the Gunners will no longer consider Leicester City's James Maddison, who was a plan B.
Meanwhile, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta's side is focused on hosting the European champions Chelsea at the Emirates this weekend.
